Avoid hilly trails on hot days
too, since climbing can be very
strenuous for your horse. Besides
finding a mostly level trail that
will be easier for your horse, try to
choose a trail with shade. Both you
and your horse will appreciate the
chance to get a break from the sun.
If your horse is barefoot, rocks
and/or hard ground could cause
foot soreness. If your horse has
sensitive hooves, consider shoeing
him during trail season or
investing in a pair of hoof boots to
protect him from tough trail
